Lodge 600

Overview


Lodge 600 was chartered on July 10, 1920 and its membership stands at 28 members. Lodge 600 members work at the Saskatoon Boiler Manufacture Company Ltd. These members have qualifications as pressure welders, mechanics and technicians. They produce firetube boilers up to 1500 horsepower fired by gas, oil and solid fuels, pressure vessels; and custom fabricated large sectional pieces weighing up to 60 tons. These Boilers and pressure vessels are used in a wide variety of industrial Installations such as: oil and gas plants, manufacturing firms, greenhouses, hospitals and schools.

History


Lodge 600 was a railway lodge when it first recieved its charter in 1920. In 1959-60 there was a merger of Lodges in Western Canada due to the change over from steam trains to diesel engines – Lodge 529 from Prince Albert and Lodge 478 from Moose Jaw. By then, the Saksatoon Boiler Manufacture Company was organized. The Manufacture expanded its facilities in 1972, 1978, and again in 1985.
