Remembrance Day is a time to honour veterans and current service members, both within our organization and across Canada, whose sacrifices have helped protect our democracy and freedoms. As we reflect on the heroic acts of those who have and continue to serve and protect our society, it\u2019s crucial more than ever to learn about the experiences of individuals whose stories have been historically underrepresented.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1994, Nov. 8th has marked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/department-national-defence\/corporate\/news\/regional-news\/western-sentinel\/2021\/11\/nov-8-marks-national-aboriginal-veterans-day.html\">National Aboriginal Veterans Day<\/a> to recognize indigenous veterans excluded from traditional Remembrance Day activities. Indigenous peoples have been part of Canada\u2019s military history for more than 200 years and often had to overcome many obstacles to enlist \u2013 often resulting in numerous decorations for bravery.
