In December 2017 their Employer Seaspan started a first of its kind project in North America \u2013 converting a ship to LNG (with twin tanks) at their Esquimalt Shipyard. \n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe job created a big demand for welders and fitters.  Lodge 191 Business Manager Gordon White and his staff were able to find over 160 welders and 130 fitters from across Western Canada.  The travel cards came from Lodges 128, 133, 146, 359 &amp; 555.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seaspan.com\/victoria-shipyard-fully-equipped-meet-growing-demand-lng-vessel-engine-conversions\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more about this project and future work related to LNG conversion<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nSeaspan reports that there will be more work coming up this spring and summer at Victoria Shipyards.  This is a great opportunity to work on Southern Vancouver Island during the summer months.
