National Director of Health &amp; Safety Jason McInnis is leading a movement within the Boilermakers to provide practical knowledge and skills to address these issues in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>The Working Mind program was designed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. The objectives of this course are to give members and supervision a greater understanding of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The signs &amp; indicators of mental illness and poor mental health;<\/li>\n<li>The effects of mental illness in the workplace;<\/li>\n<li>The stigma of mental illness and the barriers to treatment;<\/li>\n<li>The Mental Health Continuum Model;<\/li>\n<li>Employees\u2019 and employers\u2019 mental health rights &amp; responsibilities;<\/li>\n<li>Tools &amp; skills to maintain their own mental health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8743\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 640px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8743 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/boilermaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blair-Allin-Working-Mind-640x422.jpg\" alt=\"Blair Allin, National H&amp;S Representative, leading a recent Working Mind program for the Lodge 128 Steward training class.\" width=\"640\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/boilermaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blair-Allin-Working-Mind-640x422.jpg 640w, https:\/\/boilermaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blair-Allin-Working-Mind-320x211.jpg 320w, https:\/\/boilermaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Blair-Allin-Working-Mind.jpg 695w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Blair Allin, National Health &amp; Safety Representative, leading a Working Mind program for a Lodge 128 Steward training class<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are two programs &#8211; one for employees and one for supervision.
