Lodge 191 and First of its Kind Project
Boilermakers Lodge 191, located on the south coast of Vancouver Island, have another project they can be proud to say they are part of. In December 2017 their Employer Seaspan started a first of its kind project in North America – converting a ship to LNG (with twin tanks) at their Esquimalt Shipyard.
The job created a big demand for welders and fitters. Lodge 191 Business Manager Gordon White and his staff were able to find over 160 welders and 130 fitters from across Western Canada. The travel cards came from Lodges 128, 133, 146, 359 & 555. Learn more about this project and future work related to LNG conversion.
Seaspan reports that there will be more work coming up this spring and summer at Victoria Shipyards. This is a great opportunity to work on Southern Vancouver Island during the summer months. Please pay attention to the job calls posted toMembers Onlyand the Job Ready App for upcoming work.
