Oil Refinery on the West Coast?
In British Columbia there are two groups working on planning, constructing and operating an oil refinery in the Kitimat area. The Province of B.C.
is going to the polls this spring. It is time for Boilermakers who live in B.C. to start asking their politicians where they stand on the jobs that these
two refineries can create.
The two plants are:
- Kitimat Clean Ltd will employ 6,000 workers during construction, 2,500 people at the refinery with another 2,500 jobs in the nearby petro-chemical industry, plus thousands of indirect jobs.
- Pacific Future Energy will be half the size of Kitimat Clean Ltd but will still be creating many direct and indirect jobs during planning, construction and operation.
We are asking all Boilermakers who live in B.C. to contact their local MLA's and the candidates for office to find out where they stand on the jobs and tax revenues these two plants will create.
Please let us know what the politicians tell you by email at .
