Lodge 580 Elects a New President
Local Lodge 580 has elected a new President, Brother Herbie Barron. Herbie is a metal fabricator who works at FMF Cape Scott in Halifax. He
wants to serve the members of the local lodge to the best of his abilities and increase awareness of the role the union has to play in the future of the members
and their families.
Lodge 580 was chartered in 1927, making her the longest serving charter in Eastern Canada. Her member's qualifications and abilities as fabricators, welders and riggers are needed to prepare, maintain and repair the Royal Canadian Navy Atlantic fleet for all types of situations.
The Canadian International Vice President, Joseph Maloney, said "Congratulations to Lodge 580 for the 90 years her members have been serving the Royal Canadian Navy and I am proud to see that commitment to serve continues as the next generation of leaders in our union steps forward".
