Lodge 451 Renews Agreement

In Flin Flon, Manitoba, members of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Lodge 451 voted 67% in favour of a collective agreement. Local Lodge President, Jim Quinn, reported "We had 100% of the membership in attendance for the vote, an example of how interested the members of 451 are in their affairs."

The three year agreement provides for increases in wages in each year:

$1.00 - 2015
$1.75 - 2016
$1.25 - 2017

There were increases to the pension, vision care, sick benefits and in school cost for the apprentices, plus some language improvements in the short term and long term disability plans.

Canadian International Vice-President, Joseph Maloney, said "Credit is all due to the work of the Lodge 451 bargaining committee, Lodge President Jim Quinn and International Rep. Norm Ross." He further added "Lodge 451 has been serving her members for over 70 years, there has been some disagreements over that time, but this agreement is a great example of how the Union and the Employer can sit down together to work out an agreement that is in everyone's interest."
