Re: Update on Bill C-377

Greetings,

In anticipation of the consideration of C-377 at third reading in the Senate, we sent the attached letter last week to all Senators urging them to defeat the bill. It very accurately summarizes everything that is wrong with C-377.

Access to information requests have yielded results and now reporters are beginning to take notice that high levels of government activity preceded even before Russ Hiebert introduced his bill in the fall of 2011, indicating the government is using private members' business to conduct what is properly government work. Below is a link to a story in today's Globe and Mail:

Currently Liberal Senators and Conservative Senator Hugh Segal are proposing amendments to the bill in the Senate.

Yesterday, the Senate Government House Leader Marjory Lebreton announced if necessary, the Senate would sit into July to pass outstanding legislation, including Bill C-377.

In solidarity,

Ken Georgetti
President
