Rien n'est gratuit : Un message de Warren (Smokey) Thomas, Président de OPSEU
En anglais seulement
Dear friends,
It is no secret that Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC party hate unions. Unions like ours stand up for good wages, decent benefits, and fair treatment for all working people. We stand in the way of Hudak's plans to turn the Ontario workforce into just another pool of cheap labour, and he wants to get rid of us.
As part of his attack on unions and their members, Hudak has proposed that unionized workers should be allowed to receive the benefits of collective bargaining without paying the dues that make those benefits possible. Dues evasion is currently illegal in Canada but legal in many U.S. states, and Hudak wants to bring it here, regardless of the lower incomes and greater inequality that are the norm in states like South Carolina and Mississippi.
As a way to inform unions members across Ontario about Hudak's plans, OPSEU recently joined forces with award-winning film and television director Bruce McDonald to produce a short video, No Free Ride. Please take three minutes to have a look at it. If you like it, please forward it to your friends, "Like" it on Facebook, or tweet about it on Twitter. And please feel free to send me your comments.
In solidarity,
Warren (Smokey) Thomas President, Ontario Public Service Employees Union
