Lodge 555 - 60 years of Service

November 6, 1954, Lodge 555 held its first charter meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Brother Ken George of Lodge 126 was appointed as the Local's first Secretary-Treasurer due to his experience in managing that lodge for many years. The first President for 555 was Brother Tom Ellis, elected at the first meeting by the newly chartered lodge members. The work picture in Manitoba at the time - a new smelter in Thompson and both Imperial Oil and North Star Oil were in expansion. The Amy Street Steam plant in Winnipeg was starting an expansion. McArthur Hydro Electric Generation Station was in construction and a new coal fired thermal plant at Brandon kept the members of 555 employed, thus creating a local lodge that has the largest geographical area in the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

Congratulations to the past, present and future members of Lodge 555 for 60 years of Unity, Progress and Protection in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
