And you'll have state-of-the-art training facilities available to upgrade your skills.
As a member of Lodge 191, you'll probably work in the shipyards and metal fabrication shops of southern Vancouver Island. But you'll also have the chance to work in other locations across Canada with your Boilermakers travel card.
Shipbuilding and repair
Shipbuilding Boilermakers lay out, fit up and weld ships and perform all types of structural and plate work. Lodge 191 members work at Victoria Shipyard and at the Federal Government Dockyard, both located in Esquimalt.
Fabrication
Working with a variety of metals, fabrication Boilermakers lay out, fit up and weld components of boilers, pressure vessels, machines and structures for the manufacturing industry. Nicholson Manufacture in Sidney is one place at which Lodge 191 members work in fabrication.
Construction
Construction Boilermakers build, erect, repair, test and maintain all types of boilers, tanks and pressure vessels. They perform all kinds of structural and plate work on dust, air, gas, steam, oil, water and other liquid-tight containers. Many Lodge 191 members have travelled to other parts of the country to work on some of Canada's biggest construction projects in the oil and gas, LNG, mining, electrical power and pulp and paper industries.
