2012 Boilermakers Scholarship Winners
International President, Newton Jones, is pleased to announce the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers' scholarship winners. The Scholarship Committee has selected the following applicants as winners of the Canadian awards for 2012:
- $2,000 - Tyson Leo Costa, son of Edgar Costa, Lodge 359
- $2,000 - Shannon Elizabeth McDonald, daughter of John McDonald, Lodge 146
- $2,000 - Julie Ella-May McNutt, stepdaughter of Scott Forrester, Lodge 359
- $2,000 - Marissa Amy Philippe, daughter of Rene Philippe, Lodge 128
- $2,000 - Kristina Anne Murphy, daughter of Paul Murphy, Lodge 203
- $2,000 - Faith Barbara McQueen, daughter of Dan Millette, Lodge 128
In addition, the Canadian Federation of Labour is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship. The committee has chosen:
- $1,000 - Spencer David Balay, son of Dave Balay, Lodge 146
- $1,000 - Madison Alyssa Kerr, daughter of Daniel Kerr, Lodge D277
The scholarship award winners were selected from among 155 applicants. In selecting these winners, the members of the Scholarship Committee were highly impressed with their excellent grades throughout high school, their many achievement awards, their participation in many extracurricular activities, and their well-written essays.
International President Newton B. Jones said, "There are many applicants who are deserving of commendation and I wish them all well."
