| December 14, 2012 - Bill C-377 On December 12, 2012 the Federal Government passed Bill C-377. The bill will force every labour organization in Canada (26,000 local unions across Canada) to file detailed financial information, including the names and addresses of companies and individuals paid more than $5,000 cumulatively in a year. | July 5, 2012 - National Training Announcement Grant Jacobs, Director of National Training, is pleased to announce the hiring of Jim Beauchamp as the Assistant National Program Coordinator. Brother Beauchamp's duties will include managing various Manpower Resource Programs such as the US Member Recruitment Program and the TFW Program, as well as contributing to various education programs such as rigging training, red seal upgrade and common core curriculum. Brother Beauchamp is a Red Seal Boilermaker member of Lodge 555 where he has been a supervisor and instructor. He started his new position on July 1, 2012. |

One example of this is Brother Glenn Aker of Lodge 73. On January 18, 2012, Aker and his band mates from MC Bern Cleary spent the evening at Shindigs Pub in Port Hawkesbury, NS, fundraising for the local food bank society.
