Lodge 451 Members Vote in Favour of a New Three Year Agreement
Lodge 451 (Flin Flon, Manitoba), has voted 93% in favour of a new agreement. The 3 year agreement provides increases of 3% in the first year (6 increments at 38 cents per increment), 3% in the second year and 3% in the third year. This agreement includes improved benefits consisting of a pension increase of $165/month for those with 30 years of service, a dental increase from $1,250/year to $2,500/year and an orthodontics increase from $2,500 to $5,000.
International Representative, Norm Ross, whose many duties include servicing Lodge 451 said "The Lodge 451 bargaining committee did their homework and were prepared to bargain; that is one of the reasons they were able to reach a fair agreement for the members."
Joseph Maloney, International Vice-President of Canada, said "The leadership that Jim Quinn provides as President of 451, the commitment of the members of this lodge and the guidance of Norm Ross, has re-established the reputation of the Boilermakers as a union that the Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting Company can work with and this agreement is proof of that."
Lodge 451 is the most northern lodge in the Brotherhood in the town of Flin Flon, with a population of 6,000. Lodge 451 was chartered on September 15th, 1944. Its membership works for the Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting Company Ltd which produces zinc, copper, gold and silver.
