Lodge 191 Supporting Education at Local Community College
Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Business Manager, Lodge 191 (Victoria, BC), reports that the lodge has received a greatly appreciated acknowledgement from Camosun College for a donation to support the Level "A", "B" and "C" Welding Awards at the college.
Joan Yates, Executive Director at Camosun College Foundations, said "With continued crucial support from donors like you, our 18,000 students are able to receive the education necessary to succeed in today's competitive job market and challenged economy, as well as contribute to the social and economic vitality of this region."
Brother Fitzpatrick said "Lodge 191 supports its community in many positive ways, creating an educational award is just a small example of how the members of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers care for their neighbours."
Lodge 191 has made a three year commitment to the program. This year's recipient of the Lodge 191 Welding Award has since moved to Edmonton, AB, where they are now working in a welding shop that is represented by Lodge 146.
