October 28, 2009 - Lodge 580 Boilermakers Receive Recognition for Their Work Bob Fish, the President of Lodge 580, reports the members in Halifax, Nova Scotia, received recognition from the HMCS Ville De Quebec and HMCS Iroquois for their efforts. The two Canadian Navy Ships were in the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Scott dockyards for a refit. [Read More] |

October 19, 2009 - Lodge 359 Boilermakers Pride Prevails in Kamloops During the months of June and July, 2009, 35 members of Lodge 359 went into Domtar's Pulp mill in Kamloops British Columbia to do a partial generator section rebuild, working for Canadian Industrial Mills Services (CIMS). Matt Beauregard, the superintendent for the project, reports that "the crew worked under extreme heat, due to the fact that the other boilers were running plus it was mid summer in one of the hottest geographic areas of B.C., some days it was 39 degrees outside, never mind how hot inside it was." April 24, 2009 - April 28th, National Day of Mourning The National Day of Mourning, held annually on April 28, was officially recognized by the federal government in 1991, eight years after the day of remembrance was launched by the Canadian Labour Congress.
