International Representative Michel Trépanier Works on Economic Recovery for Canada

A national Task Force for Real Jobs, Real Recovery was launched on July 13th, 2020 to draw up a blueprint for Canada’s economic recovery as the country emerges from the COVID-19 crisis. International Representative Michel Trépanier is serving on the Task Force and is supported by a coalition of over 25 industry associations, unions, professional organizations and Indigenous organizations representing the energy, manufacturing, transportation, forestry and construction sectors. A group of 20 expert advisors has been appointed to help develop and communicate a forthcoming set of policy recommendations for rebuilding Canada’s economic prosperity.

Michel Trépanier is a member of Local 271. He was elected Business Manager of his home local in 2009 and 2013, appointed to International Representative in 2015, and serves as the President of the Quebec Building Trades (International).

Brother Trépanier said of his role on the Task Force “This initiative is essential to build a real conversation on Canada’s economic recovery and I am glad to be a part of it. As an international representative for Boilermakers in Quebec, I know how important natural and industrial resources growth is for our workers and for our economy not only in our province but all over the country.”
