Alysia Rissling is headed to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers are proud to support Alysia as one of our elite female bobsleigh pilots representing Canada.
Bobsleigh requires speed, power and precise coordination which is developed by training and competing against the best in the world. Alysia’s career started in 2012, shortly after the Winter Olympics. In the first year she made Team Alberta as a brakeman and in the second year she became the pilot of the sled. She moved from her Edmonton hometown to Calgary to train, and it certainly paid off. During the 2015/16 season she was ranked 17th in the world, coming in 13th at the World Championship. In the 2016/17 season she moved up the world rankings to 7th, and 8th in World Cup standings despite missing 2 races. In the same season she finished 6th at the World Championships and won her first World Cup medal (bronze) at the Olympic Test Event.
