All members of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers in Canada are advised that it is election time for all local lodges across the country.
As per the IBB Constitution, section 25.6 Eligibility to Vote, for a member to be entitled to vote in a local lodge election, they must have been in good standing in such Local Lodge for at least (2) two months immediately prior to such date of elections. Make sure your union dues are up to date.
All members are encouraged to take time to listen to the candidates for office in their home local lodges and to vote in the upcoming elections. It’s not about each member’s right to vote, it’s about each member’s responsibility to vote. When a member tells you they don’t have the time, remind them that non-unionized workers don’t have the right to vote! So take the time and exercise your right to vote during the Lodge elections.
