The federal government is reporting development of a program that will assist the Canadian oil & gas industry. As Boilermakers, we (along with pipefitters, iron workers and sheetmetal workers, to name a few) are the very builders and maintainers of the Canadian oil and gas infrastructure. That’s why it is imperative that we, as construction workers, inform our Prime Minister that we support a program to get working Canadians back on the job in the industry.
Our Boilermaker members are submitting letters to Prime Minister Trudeau and we ask that you lend your support to our initiative by also sending an email to the Prime Minister informing him that you, as a construction worker in the oil & gas industry, support a program that puts all of us back to work.
To ensure these emails get the attention they need, we ask you keep to the point and provide the following in your email:

RE: Economic recovery planning in response to COVID-19
In writing to you during this COVID-19 pandemic, I do not request your attention lightly. I read in the Globe & Mail recently that the federal government is preparing a program to assist the oil and gas industry of Canada, and it is imperative that I express to you my support of this initiative.
For each of the 100,000 direct jobs the Canadian oil and gas industry creates, there are another 3-4 indirect jobs created by this industry. I am a construction industry worker, one of the very builders and maintainers of the Canadian oil and gas infrastructure and part of the 300,000 plus indirect jobs across Canada. My job, my future and the futures of my fellow working Canadians depend on your support of the program to assist the Canadian oil and gas industry.
That is why, in addition to supporting immediate financial relief due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I support a program that will get all direct and indirect jobs back up and running in the Canadian oil and gas industry. It is my hope that you will too.
