| December 7 2016 - Safety & Security Of Canadians Comes First Since the founding of the two fleet maintenance facilities (FMF) by the British Navy almost 250 years ago, later taken over by the Royal Canadian Navy after its creation in 1910, dockyard workers at FMF Cape Scott and FMF Cape Breton (Halifax N.S. and Esquimalt B.C.) have maintained and prepare the Atlantic and Pacific fleets for the safety & security of Canadians. These dockyard workers are from various building trades. Lodge 191 represents the Boilermakers at Cape Breton and Lodge 580 at Cape Scott. | September 28, 2016 - Canadian Government Approves LNG Project in BC The Canadian federal government announced a conditional approval for the Pacific NorthWest LNG project on Lelu Island (near Prince Rupert, BC) on September 27, 2016, with 190 legally binding conditions that need to be met for the final approval. The Petronas-led $36 billion liquefied natural gas project is planning to ship 19 million tonnes a year to markets in Asia, creating 4,500 jobs during the peak construction, along with many direct and indirect jobs during the 40 plus years of operation.
