The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers wish you all a safe & happy Labour Day Weekend. The province of Saskatchewan has created the Office to Advance Women Apprentices Saskatchewan to support tradeswomen working in construction trades in the province.

On August 25th Members of Boilermakers Lodge 191 and Machinists’ Fitters & Helpers Local 3 voted in favour of a new agreement after their employer Nicholson Manufacturing Limited locked them out on August 17th on Vancouver Island. 

Recently a Task Force was established to respond to a call from government for ideals and input for Canada’s economic recovery due to COVID-19. The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers was one of the organizations that was asked to participate in the development of a plan that will help Canada build a path towards meaningful recovery. The Task Force looked at the roles natural resources and manufacturing could play in the creation of up to 2.6 million jobs, amounting to a $200 billion increase in potential wages.

Most people are trying their best to chase the blues away amid the cancellations, distancing and uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. But Local 128 (Toronto) wanted to be sure kids got the blues after a popular festival announced the show would not go on in 2020.
