Wage Rates
Reference charts outlining the hourly rate of pay of Boilermakers in the construction and shipyard industries have been updated here: https://boilermaker.ca/en/what-it-pays/.
Members are advised to refer to the collective agreement they are working under for more information. It is good practice for a union member to read their collective agreement cover to cover. To find an agreement, login to members only and click “Agreements”.
Outstanding Safety Achievement
It is a generally accepted belief that a sense of community is fostered when workers, employers, and contractors strive for a common goal, making every worker on site a partner in the success of any project.
Boilermakers and Submarines
On the west coast, Lodge 191 and 128 members (along with travel cards from 146, 359 and 555) have been busy working on a refit of the HMCS Corner Brook, one of Canada’s Victoria-class submarines. Babcock Canada is the general contractor for the project. Seaspan and Liburdi are the sub-contractors employing the Boilermakers who are using their skills and knowledge for the safety and security of Canadians.
