On July 16, 2019, the newly appointed Minister of Labour, Monte McNaughton took the time to visit the Local 128 Boilermaker Training Centre in Sarnia to become familiar with aspects of the Boilermaker Trade. At that time Mr. McNaughton spoke to a class of members engaged in upgrading certification for Confined Space.
Additionally, the Minister toured the Welding Shop and became familiar with the complex processes associated with the Construction Boilermaker Trade.
Mr. McNaughton also met with Union leaders to discuss concerns about training, safety, apprenticeships and the future of construction in the Province of Ontario.
The new Minister of Labour committed to a policy of open communication with the Boilermakers and the construction trades.
