On August 25th Members of Boilermakers Lodge 191 and Machinists’ Fitters & Helpers Local 3 voted in favour of a new agreement after their employer Nicholson Manufacturing Limited locked them out on August 17th on Vancouver Island.  The lockout occurred after bargaining came to a standstill over one issue.

On August 24th the two parties sat down and talked out the issue until an agreement could be reached. The new 4-year agreement includes wage increases, a signing bonus, and an increase to Health & Welfare, along with other benefit changes.

Robert Taylor, Business Manager of Lodge 191, said “I want to thank everyone who stood with the workers on the line, it was not something we wanted to happen but at the end of the day we were able to get back to work with a reasonable agreement.”
