Remembrance Day is recognized every year on November 11th. Remembrance Day is a time to honour veterans and current service members, both within our organization and across Canada, whose sacrifices have helped protect our democracy and freedoms. As we reflect on the heroic acts of those who have and continue to serve and protect our society, it’s crucial more than ever to learn about the experiences of individuals whose stories have been historically underrepresented.

Since 1994, Nov. 8th has marked National Aboriginal Veterans Day to recognize indigenous veterans excluded from traditional Remembrance Day activities. Indigenous peoples have been part of Canada’s military history for more than 200 years and often had to overcome many obstacles to enlist – often resulting in numerous decorations for bravery. In this important time of reconciliation, we can honour indigenous veterans by learning more about their military service to our country.

On November 11th at 11:00 am, we encourage everyone to observe two minutes of silence to honour, remember and thank all Canadian veterans and current members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
