The Canadian Boilermakers have a proud history in helping to build the industrial infrastructure of this country. The skills developed during their first year apprenticeship through the education and training it takes to become a highly skilled red seal journeyman have helped create the wealth of this nation.
The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers has been contributing to Canadian society since the first lodge was established in Canada in 1893. Celebrating a 100 year milestone anniversary in 2020 was Lodge 532 (Regina, SK). Celebrating anniversaries this year are Lodge 359 (Burnaby, BC) with 75 years and Lodge 191 (Victoria, BC) with 70 years. In 2022, Lodge 128 (Burlington, ON) will celebrate 75 years and in 2023 Lodge 146 (Edmonton, AB) will follow with 75 years.
Recounting the stories of members of this union is telling the story of Canada as an industrial leader. Some of our history is shown in the photos and articles below.
We invite you to visit the History of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers page where there are more photo & written stories to share about Boilermaker careers.
Are you retired or know a retired Boilermaker that has photos or words they can share about their career? Please send an email to to discuss how we can work together to share a story.
